Nil by Mouth Part 6
In my opinion one of the best films ever made. I like my drama realistic, gritty and truthful – this is the most realistic film I’ve seen. A Bafta-Award winning masterpiece, Written and Directed by Gary Oldman. Starring Ray Winstone, Kathy Burke (both giving the greatest acting performances I’ve ever seen) and Jamie Foreman. Chillingly honest story of everyday South London life.

He reminds me so much of Robert DeNiro in this movie, like in ‘Raging Bull’–just the fear of losing control and self-hatred. Ray is brilliant.

Oldman uses music the way Kubrick did–just sort of lulls you into a trance, and puts you right in the room.

There’s a difference between poverty and sheer, raw desperation. . . and THAT knows no economic class. And that’s what I smell.

He contributed to the stuff that isn’t recognisable songs. Soundtrack as a whole is fab.

Apparently most of the music was made by Eric Clapton, though this track doesn;t sound like his style.
