Think less about how NOT TO talk to an alcoholic, and think more about how TO talk to this person that you care about. Your words of encouragement are more helpful than to them than your fears, so focus more on what you CAN say that will make the person feel better about their self. ?

what kind of tips/advices would you give to family and friends of those who are alcoholics? How not to talk, would be good tip.

i feel ya man im only 19 as well and also feel that i have an alcoholic addiction throughout my life i have been in the “popular” crowd and have followed all my friends into drinking and feeling kind of an empowerment but when in reality i am not happy and i want a relationship that is not based on drinking so i understand what you are going through i go to the bars and get messed up all the time and i know i want more for myself it just sucks cuz i love the feeling of being drunk

What BIG BOOK are you talking about? Not the fictional Yahweh book I hope. As far as Lot and his angel friends go in that book with the towns people knocking on the door ( ’so that we may know them’ and ‘Lot saying NO NO take my daughters instead because these are my guests’)
AA is a Christian run support group that wants you to believe in a false god in order to stop drinking ( Yes it can be a successful method ) but then you will be brainfucked into superstitious religious beliefs.

“We are not a glum lot”- that is a direct quote from the Big Book and also the motto for a huge group in a city northeast of Birmingham Al. I cannot remember the name of that city. . . . . Huffman??
Anyway the motto is damn sure true, a more lively and attractive group of alcoholics I never saw.
This dude’s 7-steps are a direct takeoff from AA, “don’t beat yourself up”, “don’t get down on yourself”. . . c’mon those are affirmations ala “Language of Letting Go”. Congrats on reinventing the wheel.

@theluscioussound
Same here but I heard thats part of the detoxing or recovery process. So I just try to sleep until I fall asleep. The body is designed to sleep and it will after it has gone back to normal which could take weeks. Then you will sleep like a baby. Must not drink. Take Just sleep over the counter.

I’ve been struggling for a long time. I feel like shit and have lost all my jobs. I’m stopping today, because I’ve started to lose my mind when I drink, and now I go insane and am mean all the time when I’m wasted. Today I took a shot when I woke up to kill the hangover, I’ve quit for 5 months before, I’m gonna do it again. Plus I’m sick, so this will go okay if I just let myself heal and not go.
The eyebrow thing is awesome, yeah one drink to an alcoholic = whole bottle lol.

Just man up. I was in your same predicament. The only solution is to not go and buy that beer, wine, or liquor. It is actually as simple as just not drinking. Will power thats all.
